An initiative of We Are for Ummah Foundation to establish a vibrant, welcoming Islamic center in Hickory Hills, Illinois.
We aspire to establish Masjid al-Ummah as a vibrant, welcoming, and spiritually enriching Islamic center rooted in the Qur'an and the authentic Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
We aspire to a community where faith is not limited to rituals, but becomes a living force that inspires knowledge, character, compassion, responsibility, and service — building not merely for today, but for generations yet to come.
Masjid al-Ummah seeks to cultivate a strong, knowledgeable, compassionate, and united Muslim community through authentic Islamic education, congregational worship, family development, youth leadership, civic responsibility, and charitable service.
Strengthening our relationship with Allah through worship, remembrance, and spiritual development.
Making Qur'anic and Islamic education accessible to children, youth, and adults.
Supporting healthy families, strong marriages, and intergenerational connections.
Preparing young Muslims to become confident, ethical, productive, and responsible contributors to society.
Demonstrating Islamic values through compassion, community engagement, and service to humanity.
Bringing Muslims of different backgrounds, languages, and generations together upon the common foundations of Islam.
فِي بُيُوتٍ أَذِنَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تُرْفَعَ وَيُذْكَرَ فِيهَا اسْمُهُ
"In houses which Allah has ordered to be raised and that His name be mentioned therein."
Surah An-Nur 24:36وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا
"And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided."
Surah Aal-Imran 3:103Our strength lies not in our differences, but in our shared faith, mutual respect, and commitment to the pleasure of Allah.
Hickory Hills and the surrounding southwest suburban communities are home to Muslim families of diverse ethnic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. As families establish roots and new generations grow, the need for accessible prayer facilities, Islamic education, youth programs, and community services continues to be felt.
Through Allah's mercy, a property suitable for our vision has become available, and our purchase contract has been accepted. The journey toward completing the acquisition and preparing the property for community use still requires significant financial support, careful planning, and the collective efforts of believers.
The following are planned services, presented as aspirations rather than services already operating. They will be introduced progressively as facilities, resources, staffing, and approvals permit, insha'Allah.
Fajr through Isha in a welcoming environment. "Prayer in congregation is twenty-seven times superior to prayer offered alone." (Bukhari 645; Muslim 650)
Jumu'ah khutbahs connecting Qur'anic guidance to contemporary life, Taraweeh and community iftars in Ramadan, and Eid activities where arrangements permit.
After-school and weekend Qur'an reading, Tajweed, memorization, Islamic beliefs, Seerah, manners, and Arabic. "The best among you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it." (Bukhari 5027)
Mentorship, leadership development, identity workshops, career guidance, volunteering, and recreation — a spiritual home where young people truly belong.
Islamic marriage education, parenting workshops, and family enrichment, with referrals to qualified, appropriately licensed providers where professional expertise is required.
Appropriate opportunities for sisters' congregational participation, Qur'anic education, Islamic studies, personal development, and volunteer leadership.
A welcoming place for every journey of faith — introductory classes, mentorship, and practical guidance on prayer and worship.
Gatherings, spiritual learning, companionship, and intergenerational mentorship — honoring those who came before us.
Food assistance, support for families in hardship, and charitable drives. "And cooperate in righteousness and piety." (Al-Ma'idah 5:2)
Educational, nonpartisan civic participation, neighborhood partnerships, and respectful interfaith dialogue consistent with nonprofit requirements.
Imagine the adhan inviting believers to prayer. Imagine rows of worshippers standing shoulder to shoulder. Imagine classrooms filled with children reciting the Qur'an, young Muslims growing into compassionate leaders, and a community that cares for one another regardless of background or language. This is the Masjid al-Ummah we hope to build together, by the permission of Allah.

The project intends to explore Qarz-e-Hasan bridge-financing arrangements with qualified supporters. Such arrangements would require separately documented terms and appropriate legal and financial review. Qarz-e-Hasan financing is a repayable loan, not a charitable donation.
Tax-deductibility depends on the receiving organization's recognized status and applicable law. Verified information will be provided once the legal receiving entity and donation arrangements are confirmed.
We welcome your questions, suggestions, encouragement, and interest in helping establish Masjid al-Ummah.
